Congratulations to our Year 13 International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) Language and Culture students, who have all passed their examination, earning an outstanding average mark of 6.25 out of a maximum of 7 (and compared with a global average of 4.9).
St Margaret’s College is the only girls’ school in the South Island to offer the IBDP, and was the first school in Australasia to offer the Language and Culture subject option, having been selected to participate in an International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) pilot in 2023. It’s since become one of the College’s most popular IBDP subject options.
Language and Culture is examined in May, leaving students free to focus on their remaining five subjects before their final exams in November, with the confidence of having already banked these diploma points.
In offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in addition to the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), we give our students the opportunity to follow a philosophy of education that develops them intellectually, emotionally, physically and emotionally, in preparation for their university education.
St Margaret’s students consistently outperform IBDP students globally, and have gone on to attend leading universities in New Zealand and around the world, including Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Oxford and Cambridge.
