A scholarship offers a talented young girl an opportunity to further develop her education, nurture her talents and reach her full potential with support from The St Margaret’s College Foundation.

Scholarships

A range of domestic and international scholarships are available for our Middle and Senior Schools.

Middle School scholarships

Middle School scholarship applications for 2023 are now closed. Applications will open in March 2023 for 2024 recipients.

Middle School scholarships are available to all new students entering Years 7 and 9 in 2024, and any current SMC students, moving into either Year 7 or Year 9 in 2024.

Scholarships are offered to students who will benefit and grow in our environment, and who will in return represent SMC with pride and school spirit.

  • Year 7 scholarships

    Middle School scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to recipients who display outstanding overall excellence including strong academic ability, together with active involvement in cultural, sporting and community interests. The Middle School Scholarship provides up to a 50% remission of tuition fees for four years from Year 7 onwards.

    Middle School boarding scholarship

    A boarding scholarship provides up to a 100% remission of boarding fees for four years from Year 7 onwards.

  • Year 9 scholarships

    Academic scholarship
    Scholarships are awarded to students who display outstanding academic ability. An academic scholarship provides up to a 50% remission of tuition fees for five years from Year 9 onwards.

    Boarding scholarship
    A boarding scholarship provides up to a 100% remission of boarding fees for five years from Year 9 onwards.

    Performing arts scholarship
    Scholarships are awarded to recipients who will benefit and grow with the opportunities afforded in performing arts at SMC. This scholarship provides up to a 50% remission of tuition fees for five years from Year 9 onwards.

    Sporting scholarship
    Scholarships are awarded to recipients who will benefit and grow with the opportunities afforded in sport at SMC. This scholarship provides up to a 50% remission of tuition fees for five years from Year 9 onwards.

    International scholarship
    Scholarships are awarded to international students who display outstanding overall excellence including strong academic ability, along with active involvement in cultural, sporting and community interests.

Senior School scholarships

These scholarships are available to all new students entering Year 11, 12 and 13. They are offered to students who will benefit and grow in our environment, and who will in return represent SMC with pride and College spirit.

  • Year 12 scholarships

    International Baccalaureate Claudia Wysocki Scholarship
    Scholarships are awarded to recipients who display outstanding academic ability. The International Baccalaureate Claudia Wysocki Scholarship provides up to a 50% remission of tuition fees for two years from Year 12 onwards.

    Sporting scholarship
    Scholarships are awarded to recipients who will benefit and grow with the opportunities afforded in sport at SMC. This scholarship provides up to a 50% remission of tuition fees for new students entering our Senior School at Year 12 and 13.

Old Girls' scholarship

The St Margaret’s College Old Girls’ Association Fees Assistance scholarship is available to descendants of Old Girls in Year 12 and 13 and is a means-tested scholarship. Applications for this scholarship close 4 pm, Friday 26 August 2022.

  • Old Girls' scholarship

    Applications for this scholarship are made direct to the St Margaret’s College Old Girls’ Association (SMCOGA). Contact us for further details.

Further information on applying for scholarships

  • Only New Zealand citizens or permanent residents can apply and receive a Middle or Senior School scholarship. Only International students can apply for a Year 9 International Student scholarship.
  • Domestic students not already enrolled for 2023 must complete an online enrolment form, including submitting a copy of your daughter’s birth certificate or passport, a recent photograph, and a $150 enrolment fee. There is no scholarship application fee.
  • International students not already enrolled for 2023 must complete an international student online enrolment form. There is no scholarship application fee for the Middle School International scholarship.
  • Scholarship applications will only be accepted via online submission.
  • A separate application, including all supporting documentation, must be made for each scholarship applied for. You may apply for more than one scholarship, however, only one scholarship may be awarded per student.
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
