Lion Foundation Songwriting Competition

Performing as Twin Candle, Year 12 students Siena Cleugh and Amy Jones have been named finalists in the prestigious Lion Foundation Songwriting Competition 2023.
As finalists, Siena and Amy have been recognised for their exceptional musical abilities. They have also been awarded funding to professionally record their original song ‘Rewind the night’ in a state-of-the-art studio, which will then be released on major streaming platforms, enabling them to share their artistry with a wide audience.

The Lion Foundation Songwriting Competition is the Play It Strange flagship competition, inviting students in Year 9-13 to write a song as a voice of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Songwriting is just one area of music girls are supported in at St Margaret’s College, in addition to participation in a wide range of contemporary choirs, bands and orchestras, mentored by our performing arts staff. Learn more about performing arts at SMC here.
