Congratulations to the St Margaret’s College Senior A Netball team, winners of the 2022 Supernet Competition. In a final against St Andrew’s College, SMC took the title with a final score of 40-32.
This is the eighth time SMC has won the Supernet Championship in the past 12 years.
Ivy Brown, Te Ata Hassan, Bridie James, Ashlyn Koce, Cara Mustchin, Josie Seymour and Millie Farrell represented SMC on the court, with Charlotte Coughlan, Ellese Haigh, Evie Leeson and Fabriana McQuarrie comprising the full Senior A team.
The win follows SMC’s 1st XI Hockey team’s triumph at the Connectics SSP Championships last Friday. SMC was named champions, scoring 3-2 in the final against Christchurch Girls’ High. The full squad comprises Annie Airey, Jessie Anderson, Ally Booth, Zara Gamble, Paris Hague, Niamh Mckenzie, Poppy McNeill, Chloe McNeill, Maddy McNeill, Anneliese Millard, Tilly O’Donnell, Sorell Shand, Phoebe Spear, Bella Spear, Mezzy Surridge, Molly Williams, and Lily Young.
In recent weeks SMC has placed first at the Canterbury Secondary Schools One Day Horse Event and at the U16 Canterbury Schools Teams Time Trial Cycling Championships, and won the singles and doubles at the Kiwi Indoors U14 tennis tournament.
SMC’s Senior A Netball team will next week participate in the South Island Secondary Schools’ Tournament and hopes to qualify for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships, while the 1st XI Hockey team will participate in the Fed Cup National Tournament.
