Meet the Board

Chair: Albert Brantley
Vice Chair: Fiona Bush, BPhEd, Dip Tcg.
Trained as an engineer and geologist, over the past 40 years Albert has lead the construction and operation of large scale oil and gas, mining and utility assets throughout the world. From 2016-2018 he was Chief Executive of Ōtākaro Limited, the Crown Company responsible for the Anchor Project programme for central Christchurch, and was the Chief Executive of Genesis Energy for eight years before that.

Albert has provided board level governance for the past 20 years, and is presently an Independent Director of Ballance Agri-Nutrients, the HW Richardson Group, the Assessment Board for the Excellence Programme of Local Government New Zealand, and is Chairman of the Waimakariri Irrigation Limited and FarmRight Limited. He is also a Director of the Independent Schools of New Zealand.

Albert is a member of the Trust Board’s finance and property committees.

  Fiona and her husband David live north of Cheviot where they are involved in a number of farming enterprises. They have three daughters who have all been through the boarding school at SMC. Fiona brings experience to the board in the area of curriculum and student achievement, after a number of years teaching middle and secondary Physical Education and Health.

Fiona is the Chair of the Compliance Committee and also the Board Representative on the PFA and Synod.

Richard Carey
Peter Flannery
Richard is married to Toni, and they have four children, with their youngest Paige in Year 12 at St Margaret’s. Richard originally qualified both as a Chartered Accountant and a Solicitor, and he has had a career in professional services. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and is involved in a range of governance and advisory activities.

Richard has been a Trust Board member for the past five years, and he is the Chair of Finance.

   Peter has two daughters who both attend St Margaret’s College He runs a successful investment analysis and strategic financial planning business. Peter’s expertise complements our Finance Committee where he aims to help us strike the delicate balance between running a ‘tight fiscal ship’ and seizing opportunities.

Vicki Green
Cindy McEwan
Vicki is a mother of a boarding daughter and the General Manager of her own retirement business. Vicki is one of life’s busy people who joins our team offering strong business aptitude and well-developed statutory compliance skills. Vicki joined the Board in 2016 and is the Chair of the Property Committee.


  Cindy graduated from Canterbury University with a First Class Honours degree in Journalism, and has spent the last 23 years in brand and advertising roles in London and Christchurch. Throughout her career she has had a range of advertising agency and client-side marketing management positions across a spectrum of industries. Cindy currently owns and operates a strategic marketing consultancy, and is a Trustee on two not-for-profit Boards.

Cindy is married to Richard and has two daughters, one in Year 10 at St Margaret’s, and one in Year 7 at Selwyn House. Cindy is a member of the Property Committee and the Board Representative on the St Margaret’s College Foundation.

Kat McCorkindale
Andrea Wylie
Kat’s career has centred in digital and marketing senior leadership roles with varied business management experience having established a number of companies in marketing, digital, retail and hospitality. An Old Girl of St Margaret’s College, Kat attended the school from 1999 to 2002. She graduated with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Canterbury University in 2013 and is a member of the Institute of Directors.

Kat is the Board Representative on the St Margarets College Old Girls Association, and is a member of the Finance Committee.

  Andrea is passionate about education and is delighted to have the opportunity to be part of the St Margaret’s governance team. She has had a varied career in education with teaching and leadership experience in a range of primary schools and more recently working with the Ministry of Education and school leaders to improve learning and teaching in schools.
Andrea has also had considerable experience at Board level as a school trustee. She has a strong interest in future focussed education and would like to use the skills and experience she has gained in governance and education to give back to the school. She wants to play a part in helping ensure the ongoing future success and sustainability of St Margaret’s.Andrea is married to Neil and they have three children, with their eldest Hannah in Year 9 at St Margaret’s. She is a member of the Compliance and Property Committees.

Andrew Hawkes
Di Humphries
Andrew is a Chartered Accountant and Partner with KPMG and brings to the board his experience as a trusted adviser to Private Business, Individuals, funders and stakeholders. Andrew is married to Sarah and they have three primary aged school children Olivia (year 8 at St Margaret’s), Harry and Max. Weekends are spent on the side lines at rugby, swimming and cricket or in the thick of the action coaching junior hockey.

As a keen mountain biker Andrew is passionate about the environment and spends time up in the Mid Canterbury High Country

  Di and her husband Phil have one daughter Sophia who attends St Margaret’s since the middle of year 8 after returning from Auckland back to their hometown. Di has 13 years of experience in CEO positions leading publicly listed Retail Companies, an Executive Director of these companies and over 26 years in Senior Executive positions specialising in retail, design and marketing.

Di brings experience of commercial business management, strategy and marketing, and is a member of the Finance and Compliance Committees.
