A standing ovation for Year 13 Yasmin Marsh who has been invited to attend the Young Shakespeare Company that will travel to London next year to perform at The Globe Theatre.
Yasmin won the honour following her performance at the National Shakespeare in Schools Production in Dunedin.
SGCNZ’s National University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival is New Zealand’s most prestigious drama festival, and SMC has an almost unbroken record of recognition over the past decade.
Megan Herd, SMC’s Curriculum Leader of Senior Drama, says it’s an honour to work with such a motivated and talented student.
“From the day I first met Yasmin, I knew she was going to find joy and success in the performing arts. Yasmin is an extremely engaging performer who has an incredible work ethic. We’ve had several students attend Young Shakespeare Company over the years and it is truly a life changing experience for them.”
