Congratulations to Year 13 students Sophie Brownlie and CJay Horrey, who have been selected as part of the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company 2025.
Each year, 24 of New Zealand’s most talented young actors are selected from the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand’s National Shakespeare in Schools Production (NSSP). Sophie and CJay will now have the opportunity to travel to London to participate in a two-week programme at the Globe Theatre. Their experience will include workshops, behind-the-scenes access to iconic theatres like the Globe, Rose, and National Theatre, as well as attending performances. They will also work closely with a Globe Director to rehearse scenes from one of Shakespeare’s plays, culminating in a public performance on the iconic Globe stage—an opportunity most actors can only dream of.
CJay and Sophie follow in the footsteps of several St Margaret’s College students who have performed at the Globe, most recently Georgia Lassen, who earned a place as one of just 11 New Zealand teachers to travel to London in July with the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand (SGCNZ) Teachers Go Global programme.
