Finalists in the Girls’ First XI Cup for cricket

Congratulations to our St Margaret’s College 1st XI cricket team.

Not only did the team qualify for the girls’ First XI Cup for cricket for the very first time in St Margaret’s College’s history, the team made it to the final, narrowly missing out on the title by three runs, to Palmerston North Girls High School.

Senior student Ciara Hartland was named most valuable player of the tournament, which was played at Lincoln University.

The tournament concludes a “staggering sporting year”, in which St Margaret’s College was named the top girls’ sporting school for 2025 by the New Zealand Herald, following three national championship wins in hockey, rowing, and volleyball, and a number of regional and South Island championships in cricket, cycling, equestrian, football, netball, tennis, and triathlon.
