St Margaret’s College Middle School is an exciting place that caters for students as they go through a time of immense change. We provide a challenging yet supportive environment that is second to none.
We focus on developing effective learning strategies to equip the girls for a life of learning. Students are encouraged to be active managers, regulators and directors of their own learning. The girls enjoy access to all the facilities St Margaret’s College has on offer and this includes a world class library and e learning centre.
As we are a 1:1 laptop school our focus is now on combining the learning using face to face and online learning activities. This provides the opportunity for students to prepare well in advance of classes thus maximising the teaching time in class or to revisit the notes from the day’s class as they are archived for student use. When girls are unable to be in class for any reason, they can continue to access class notes and tasks remotely and so can still participate in the learning that has taken in place in their absence; learning anywhere, anytime.
The Middle School encourages a holistic approach to learning. A complete education requires not just classroom learning but also physical, emotional, social and spiritual development. At St Margaret’s College, we strongly encourage active involvement in sport, music and arts and our participation rates are something that we are very proud of.
In Year 10 we offer a leadership programme where each leadership role allows for students to find their voice and to develop new initiatives for the Middle School. The different leadership roles may vary from year to year to ensure that leadership areas are specifically geared to the school’s needs at that time while still taking into account students and their individual attributes.
